Speaker: Professor Chris Drinkwater, emeritus Professor of Primary Care Development at Northumbria University and Chair of Ways to Wellness project.

Title: Social prescribing for long term conditions: a public health issue

The presentation will outline the rationale for social prescribing for long term conditions and how the "Ways to Wellness" project intends to scale up social prescribing through a social impact bond model.

Biography
Professor Chris Drinkwater CBE, FRCGP, MFPH(Hon) was an inner city GP in Newcastle for 23 years and he is now emeritus Professor of Primary Care Development at Northumbria University. He is the President and Public Health Lead for the NHS Alliance, a Founding Trustee of HealthWORKS Newcastle, and Vice-Chair of the Northumberland, Tyne & Wear Community Foundation where he Chairs their Philanthropy Committee. He is also currently Chair of the Newcastle West CCG Partnership Forum and of Voluntary Organisations Network North East "Ways to Wellness" Project which is developing a Social Impact Bond for social prescribing with funding from the Social Investment Enterprise Fund.
