North East Medical Sociology Group - impact of gender on health

The North East Medical Sociology Group is currently planning its next half day seminar which will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday 11 May at Newcastle University.

The topic for this half day seminar will be the impact of gender on health issues. The keynote speaker will be Dr Carol Emslie from the Institute for Applied Health Research / School of Life Sciences at Glasgow Caledonian University, and in addition there will be a number of short presentations from local researchers, plus a panel discussion exploring the difficulties sociologists face when working in multi-disciplinary groups looking at health related topics.

The North East Medical Sociology group aims to provide a forum to foster collaborative working, mentoring, discussion, and to enhance the profile of medical sociology in the Noth East. The events offer a lively and friendly forum, through which we encourage debate, discussion and networking.
