Creative Research, Involvement and Dissemination event
About this event
Fuse is delighted to invite you to our first Creative Research, Involvement and Dissemination Community of Practice in-person event. Fuse members have expressed a strong interest in forming a Community of Practice (CoP) focused on creative research, involvement and dissemination. A CoP is a network of people who share common interests and goals, creating a space for knowledge exchange, learning, and mutual support.
A key feature of this Community of Practice is the chance to try different creative activities in a supportive environment and explore how these approaches could be integrated into your own research.
Background
Creative research approaches and methods can be described as "doing or making through activity" (Marshall et al, 2023). These approaches encourage new ways of engaging people and communities to share knowledge. Fuse members often use creative methods to reach communities that have been marginalised and experience health inequities. Creative approaches offer diverse opportunities for involvement in research - whether through prioritisation, recruitment, data collection and analysis, dissemination, or translating research into practice. Current examples include peer research and activities such as drawing, craft, poetry, music, video, drama, cooking, dance, walking, and zines… and we are just getting started!
Who should attend?
This event is for Fuse practitioners, public partners, researchers, policy makers, and commissioners who:
- Are curious about creative methods but have not yet tried them;
- Have experience with creative methods and are happy to share their learning;
- Are unsure how creative activities or approaches could be applied in their research.
What you will gain
This is an opportunity to:
- Connect with others interested in creative research, involvement, and dissemination;
- Share ideas to shape future Community of Practice sessions;
- Take time to reflect on your own practice.
