Title: Delay in accessing care for children with arthritis - does it matter?

Dr Jandial will outline the research describing the delay seen in children with arthritis in accessing specialist care. She will then go on to describe interventions developed to improve this situation and ongoing research projects. Discussion on strategies to change clinical practice would be welcomed.

Biography
Sharmila's clinical role is within the busy paediatric rheumatology department at the Great North Children's Hospital, as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering care for children with rheumatological conditions across the North of England. In addition, she has a background in educational research and has been part of an academic team looking at delay, and the development of educational tools to improve clinical skills and confidence in doctors involved in the care of children. More recently they have been looking more broadly at children with musculoskeletal conditions and working in collaboration to develop strategies that will impact on clinical practice.
