In this seminar, we reflect on the complexities of cross-sector collaborative responses to COVID-19, by exploring our experiences of coming together from different organisations, working alongside local volunteers, before and during the pandemic. In February 2020, when lockdown started, Larkspur House became one of eight community hubs set up to provide support to people in Gateshead. We will outline the background and context, the values underpinning the partnership, how our approach evolved, and our reflections on what we learnt. We include a snapshot of findings from qualitative research undertaken with community members and staff before and during the COVID-19 response.

About Edberts House
Edberts House is a community project, based in two former shops in the heart of High Lanes estate, Gateshead. High Lanes used to have the highest antisocial behavior in Gateshead (14.6 per 100 tenants in 2010), however since Edberts House started working, the estate now has one of the lowest rates in the Borough (0.7 per 100 in 2016). Two friendly team members work with a steering group to plan, design and deliver activities, groups and learning opportunities for the community. Over 150 people have already achieved accredited qualifications, and many others have found employment. Edberts House provides groups for children and young people, trips, crafts and lots more. http://edbertshouse.org/edberts-house
