The theme of the conference will be underpinned by the Marmot Review's six policy objectives, showcasing local practice and research from across the North East:

  • Create and develop healthy and sustainable places and communities
  • Strengthen the role and impact of ill-health prevention
Aim and objectives
 
The aim of the conference is to share learning and reflect upon experiences of tackling health inequalities across the public health system to ensure prioritisation of prevention in the North East.
 
The conference will:
  • Showcase examples of innovative public health practice that prioritises prevention across the North East
  • Raise awareness of research to build the evidence base of new ways of working
  • Foster collaborative and cross-sector working across the public health system to tackle emerging and future public health challenges
  • Provide an opportunity to network with colleagues across the region
  • Promote an asset-based approach to improve the public’s health and reduce health inequalities
