In his lecture, Professor Fenton will explore early experiences and lessons learned in scaling-up three novel approaches to preventing and tackling the wider determinants of health in the London Borough of Southwark.
He will discuss the challenges faced by public services and review how providers can work towards meeting rising demands using diminishing resources.
In the Health and Social Care sector, the need for change is urgent given changing demographic profiles, continued austerity and economic uncertainty, as well as the increasingly complex needs of local communities.
Professor Fenton will suggest that key to the sustainability of the future Health and Social Care system is engagement with individuals and communities to promote wellbeing and resilience.
