The Public Health Research and Science Conference 2020 will focus on the application of scientific methods to protect and improve health.

The focus will be on the application of scientific methods to protect and improve health, including the work of the NIHR Health Protection Research Units, NIHR School for Public Health Research and other formal research partnerships.

The key aims are to:
• support the development of public health scientific capacity and skills
• raise standards for research and scientific activity and celebrate scientific excellence
• support the development of collaborations between Public Health England and academia
• provide opportunities for trainees and junior scientists to present their work with academic rigour
• support the communication of research findings

The detailed conference programme will be available in early January and will be a combination of plenary and oral ePoster sessions.

Who should attend?

The conference is aimed at scientists in many different roles, whether consultants or early career researchers, scientists and analysts in PHE or academia, local authorities and other organisations with an interest in providing or using evidence through robust public health science. The work of members of NIHR Health Protection Research Units, School for Public Health Research, Applied Research Collaborations or other partner organisations would be particularly relevant. Registration fees have been subsidised to facilitate wide participation of people at all career stages.
